PROJECT SUMMARY
The objective of the project is to valorise lignin derived from the pulp and paper manufacturing process by developing and investigating new applications for this by-product. In combination with thermoplastic polymers, among other materials, the project aims to develop new high-value-added materials through industrial forming processes such as compression moulding, extrusion and injection moulding.
Other, more open-ended applications will also be explored, including approaches with a more artistic and broader scope.
This initiative is particularly aligned with the principles of the Circular Bioeconomy and aims to contribute to key areas such as decarbonisation, the substitution of fossil-based materials, and the development of applied industrial solutions based on waste valorisation.
