PROJECT SUMMARY
The Portuguese man-of-war has increased along the Gipuzkoan coast (especially in La Concha), creating health risks and negatively impacting tourism and the blue economy. Facing current prevention methods, which are costly and polluting, ItsasZaindaria was created: an Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) developed with technical advice from AZTI. This electric catamarán-type vessel will clean critical areas using a passive net, eliminating the risk of stings, reducing fossil fuel use by 100%, and guaranteeing continuous 2-hour patrols.
